We need a new definition for the word “Intelligence”.

So far, the “clever” people behind the economic collapse have screwed their customers, screwed their nations and screwed the planet. And then there are the “clever” scammers, spammers, criminals and pornsters who want nothing better than to degrade the society to the point where they can just quietly feed off the rest of us, like the parasites that they are.

Now think about it. This is not intelligent behaviour. It may be “clever”, but it is naive, short-sighted, often criminal and a beautiful illustration of animal cunning (survival of the fittest and all that). Not what any sane person would choose to call intelligence.

The difference between Clever and Intelligent

There is a huge difference between “Clever” and “intelligent”, These people I have mentioned may be clever, but they are not intelligent.

In a global society, we need to become responsible global citizens if we are to reach the twin goals of better survival for all and raising the overall culture to a higher level. And have no doubt, the communications technology in planet-wide use is forcing us down the road of becoming a global society whether we agree with it or not. The simple fact that you are reading this message is proof of that.

And if someone scoffs and says that these goals are not worth reaching for, then they have already adequately demonstrated their “cleverness” and their opinions can be immediately discarded.

I think that it is time to re-define “intelligence” so as to include some kind of social awareness and responsibility. It must include any persons intentions towards their fellow man and his or her well-being as well as their own.

Measuring Intelligence

So how should intelligence be measured?

How about an actual physical record of producing good services or products that can be seen to benefit others and contribute to the society we all live in?

How about the ability to give an honest and positive answer to the question, “What have you done to benefit your fellow man and the planet recently?”

The good and honest people all over the world who are fighting the good fight to earn an income, raise their children and give them a decent home, to defend their homes, support their friends and neighbours and their nations – they need to be recognised and acknowledged for their efforts and their true intelligence in their actions.

The merely clever need to be recognised as such and pitied. But only after they have been rendered harmless to the rest of us. Let’s start by giving their acts and their opinions the scorn and the legal attention that they truly deserve.
